Protruding ears can be a source of harassment and teasing for school-age children. The stigmata of this experience during childhood can continue into adulthood and manifest as a self-consciousness about ones ears. Some people will dictate their hairstyle in such a way as to keep their ears always covered. Fortunately there is a surgical procedure that can improve the shape and position of the ears with incisions that are well hidden. This procedure can be performed safely as early as the age of five, before a child enters school age. Children and adults recover from the procedure comfortably and quickly.
